The North Korean Foreign Ministry has accused the United States of deliberately escalating tensions by conducting joint air maneuvers with South Korea. The North Korean state news agency KCNA said on Tuesday.
“Despite our frequent warnings, the U.S. continues to deliberately escalate the situation,” the Department said in a statement dated Monday. “The recent joint air exercises (…) clearly demonstrate that the plan to use nuclear weapons against the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea is proceeding at the rhythm of an actual war.”
“We deeply regret the irresponsible and disturbing actions of the United States and South Korea, which are constantly pushing the situation on the Korean peninsula towards instability,” the ministry said.
In a statement, Pyongyang called for an immediate end to” hostile military actions.” “If the dangerous military provocations of the US and South Korea continue…”there is no guarantee that there will not be a violent confrontation on the Korean peninsula,” he said.
North Korea’s response comes after both allies held a simulation exercise in Washington for a nuclear conflict with North Korea.
