Labor productivity in the United States, excluding the agricultural sector, increased by 3.6 percent in the first quarter. This is according to preliminary figures from the US Department of Labor.
Economists generally expected an increase of 2.2 percent, after an increase of a revised 1.3 percent in the final quarter of 2018.
The labor costs per unit of product decreased by 0.9 percent in the past quarter
