Facebook would test a version of the app on Android smartphones where the traditional blue makes room for white. XDA Developers reports this on the basis of insights into the new design.
In the tested version of the Facebook app, the blue has been replaced with white by the search bar and the side menu. Other blue elements, as well as gray shades, have been replaced by white in the test version.
The blue of Facebook is a significant landmark of the app. The social medium has chosen the color because Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is partly color-blind, but blue can see relatively well.
It is unclear how big the test is around the white design and in which countries the Android app is being tested. The test does not have to mean that the design is definitely passed to all app users.
