Facebook and Instagram are no longer going to allow advertisements to distribute misleading information about vaccinations. The company behind the two social media has announced this on Thursday.
It is also no longer possible to target advertisements to certain target groups, such as the ‘controversies around vaccinations’ category. Accounts that regularly violate this policy will also be excluded by Facebook from posting all kinds of advertisements.
In addition, Facebook is taking measures to prevent the spread of disinformation about vaccinations on both the social medium of the same name and on Instagram.
For example, Facebook groups and pages are no longer suggested when users search for them in the search bar. On Instagram, similar messages are no longer suggested with, for example, hashtags.
