Boeing stops the 777X tests

Boeing is temporarily suspending the tests with the new 777X widebody because the hold of the hold was blown out during a final test before certification.

During the final load testing, a cargo door exploded when testing was carried out under high pressure. That writes The Seattle Times. The test model was only used for soil testing. Boeing decided to stop the test.

This test would be the last before certification can be requested from the Federal Aviation Administration. In a final load testing the device is exposed to loads and voltages that are heavier than normal use.

A spokesperson says that the test took place on Thursday and that overall tests are continuing, but did not want to provide more information.

It is not the first setback for Boeing’s 777X. Last month the delivery of the 777X was already delayed due to engine problems.
