Trump asks China to immediately undo the tariffs on US agriculture

President Donald Trump has asked China to withdraw the levies on the import of American agricultural products with immediate effect.

Trump said in a Twitter message that he had made this request because of the good progress in the trade talks with China and that this step is very important for American farmers.

As previously announced, Trump has postponed plans to start imposing new import tariffs on Chinese products from 1 March.

Last Friday, reports came out that Trump and Chinese leader Xi might sit down at a table later this month to sign a trade deal.
