People with heavy overweight, Down syndrome or neurological conditions that make breathing difficult are given priority for the coronavaccin AstraZeneca, the Ministry of VWS has decided.
General practitioners will soon be able to start ordering vaccines by region. There will be a start in the Zeeland region, as a spokesman for VWS says.
The Health Board had already advised that people with one of these conditions should be given priority. The overweight and Down syndrome people will be vaccinated by the general practitioners at the same time as the 63 – and 64-year-olds. These are people with morbid obesity between 18 and 64 years of age with a BMI of over 40 and those living at home with Down syndrome of 19 and older. CBS estimates that there are about 100,000 overweight people.
According to a spokesman of the National General Practitioners ‘ Association, people from the third group, who have neurological disorders, cannot yet be vaccinated. They will be vaccinated later by their medical specialist.
People with other serious diseases, including severe kidney failure or birth defects in the immune system, also need to be dealt with sooner in terms of Health, as well as patients who have undergone organ or bone marrow transplantation.
The threshold of spring
These groups should be vaccinated with an mRNA vaccine at the same time as the 70-year-olds in terms of the Health Council, as this works better with these specific conditions. In a letter to the Second Chamber, minister De Jonge writes that he will return to this advice as soon as possible, because all available vaccines from Moderna and BioNTech/Pfizer are allocated for the coming time.
From the age of 65 everyone gets Pfizer or Moderna, under the age of 18 there is no vaccination.
