Economists generally expected that the gross domestic product (GDP) of the world’s largest economy would be adjusted slightly upwards, to 3.2 percent. In the fourth quarter of 2018 there was still growth of 2.2 percent.
According to the US Department of Commerce, consumer spending was less strong than previously expected, while corporate investment was adjusted upwards.
