Trump wants to ban transgender people from the army via the court

NEW YORK – The Donald Trump government wants the Supreme Court to rule on its decision to ban transgender people from the US Army. Three lower courts had previously prohibited the government from implementing the measure. That is why Washington has asked the court on Friday to examine that case.

In fact, federal courts of appeal should consider the verdicts of the three lower courts. The Trump government is of the opinion that this takes too long and has therefore stepped to the Supreme Court.

In the summer of 2017, Trump announced that he no longer wanted to allow transgender people to any post in the army. He said that the army can not be inhibited by the enormous medical costs and the disruption that transgender people in the military would bring with them.

A number of transgender soldiers then went to court to challenge Trump’s decision.
