US President Donald Trump is not yet ready to reach a trade deal with China. He expects that ” somewhere in the future ” a trade agreement will be concluded between the United States and China. Trump said this during his four-day state visit to Japan in a joint press conference with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
According to Trump, the Chinese probably regret the recent setbacks in trade talks with the Americans. He thinks Beijing probably wished that a deal had already been reached. However, the Chinese recoiled from previously agreed agreements with Washington and they now regret it, Trump said.
The two economic superpowers blame each other for stalling trade talks and threaten to levy new taxes. Trump stated that the American taxes against China can easily be increased considerably. He is, however, optimistic that an agreement can ultimately be reached.
“I think China and the US will definitely close a great deal sometime in the future and we look forward to it.”
