Republicans lost in the poster child state

The Democrats now have 218 seats (out of 435 seats) in the House of Representatives. This means that they have the majority in the House. The Republicans hold the majority in the Senate. They stand at 51 (out of 100) seats.

In Minnesota, Jason Lewis, controversial because of woman-unfriendly statements, must give up his seat in the house to a woman. In 2012, he complained that it was not a ‘slut’ for a woman ‘who has multiple relationships’. Lewis won Angie Craig two years ago. She is now the first member of the LGTBQ community in Minnesota to secure a seat in Congress.

In the fierce battle for the governorship of Wisconsin, incumbent governor Scott Walker, a Republican, seems to lose it from Democrat Tony Evers. Walker previously booked a series of victories that even led to a campaign for the presidency in 2016, which he abandoned after a short time.

Stacey Abrams, the Democratic candidate who is fighting for governorship in Georgia is at a loss, but still refuses to acknowledge her defeat. Her Republican rival Brian Kemp stands at 50.8 percent of the vote. If Abrams won, she would become the first black, female governor of the United States. She was supported during her campaign by talk show icon Oprah Winfrey.

Former Presidential candidate and Republican Mitt Romney has been elected Senator for Utah with a large majority. In the past he criticized President Trump. Tonight he called for more respect from the government towards citizens.
