The American president Donald Trump will, according to Reuters news agency, sign a new decree for a ban on espionage telecom this week. That means that American companies are no longer allowed to do business with telecom giants such as Huawei.
To realize that plan, the International Emergency Economic Powers Act would be invoked, which empowers the president to regulate trade in response to an emergency threatening the United States.
According to the Americans, the equipment of the Chinese Huawei – the third largest smartphone maker in the world – is used by the Chinese state for spying. Huawei has denied those accusations.
In August, Trump already signed a decree for the US government to ban the use of equipment from Huawei and another Chinese supplier, ZTE Corp.
The United States has also actively encouraged other countries not to use the equipment from Huawei in the next generation of 5G networks that the Americans believe is unreliable.
